New Copolymerization Technology For Enhancement Of Methacrylate Cure Speeds

Sean Nunez, Sartomer

Abstract:Methacrylates have several desirable properties relative to their acrylate analogues: at equal degrees of polymerization, they have better scratch and chemical resistance, higher moduli, and superior health and safety characteristics. Despite these advantages, lower rates of polymerization relative to acrylates makes them unsuitable for use in many applications where product throughput is a controlling factor. We describe recent work on improving the cure speed of methacrylates by incorporation of a new class of comonomers.
