Curing Traditional Formulations with Multi-Wavelength LEDs

Abstract:Advances in UVLED technology over the past half-decade have facilitated the replacement of microwave-powered lamps by UVA LED lamps in some curing applications. Formulators have had some success in tweaking formulations to respond to these near-monochromatic sources, but the lack of UVC and UVB radiation has precluded LED adoption in many applications. This paper examines the effect of combined UVC/UVB/UVA exposures on traditional, broadband-responding formulations to determine effective combinations of cure variables as lower wavelengths become more viable.
