Use of High Refractive Index Materials in Display and Lighting Applications

Abstract: The optoelectronics industry has been searching for materials with high refractive index, high optical clarity, and solution processability to enable the next generation of display, lighting, and optical applications. ZrO2 nanocrystals that are <10 nm with narrow size distribution and controlled surface chemistry meet these stringent requirements. These nanocrystals are compatible with many polymer systems including acrylates, epoxies and silicones. Applications of high quality nanocomposites for improving the light output and operating efficiencies of OLED Displays, HD Displays, OLED lighting, LED lighting as well as associated formulation approaches, will be discussed.
